Yes, you need to update both devices. Update your phone first, and after that update your watch.
In your watch , go to settings- Play store/App store – Apps on phone. Find Swing Speed Radar, and download to watch.
Check connection to phone. The app on the phone needs to be active in order for the watch to work properly.
Tutorial:
1 : Open app on Phone and Watch, and connect the two devices by Bluetooth .
2: Choose "Practice mode" or "Target mode" on the wheel. (Please visit the tutorials/demo videos)
3: Choose your club (and shot length in "Target mode").
4: Press "Play" and take your posture. You can move a little and prepare for the shot.
5: The watch needs to be perfectly still to find a starting position. When the starting position is found, the watch vibrates and starts recording. After vibration you need to hit your ball as soon as possible (within 1 second).
"Target mode" works the same way. Just start your swing, and turn your swing forward at the second vibration (you will get the second vibration in the backswing when you reach the power needed for chosen shotlenght). If you you do so, the ball will carry the chosen distance.
6: After the shot, enjoy your result either on your watch or phone (more info on the phone).
7: Next shot: Press "Play" on the watch again, or press the wheel to change club or mode (go back to step 2).
8: Enjoy !😜
